Charlies Produce is looking to add an experienced Fleet Mechanic to join their team in South Seattle. We are looking for a professional person who is attentive to details such as being to work on time, a team player, and willing to work hard.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 5 years of previous truck diagnosis of diesel mechanic experience on Class 8 vehicles.
  • Knowledgeable in the diagnosis and repair of all makes of electronic controlled diesel engines.
  • Fleet experience is a must.
  • Must have mechanical and diagnostic knowledge and/or experience in diesel engines and refrigeration units.
  • Must have basic welding skills and knowledge of TIG, MIG and stick welding.
  • Must have ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to read/follow technical manuals & verbal instructions alike.
  • Comfortable with the use of factory scan tools.
  • Have a professional mechanics toolbox.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Cummins and Detroit Certifications.
  • Reefer maintenance experience.
  • Class A is a plus, Class B preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Preventative maintenance / Diagnosing and running repairs on a variety of equipment from Tractors, Trailers, Lit gates, Reefers and Yard goats.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure vehicle safety and performance.
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate and complete repairs.
  • R&R Truck components including Engine, transmissions, axles, brakes, lift gates, etc..
  • Engine / Transmission diagnose
  • A/C repair
  • Electrical -- charging / starting / lighting / suspension and Steering repair
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy diesel engines, machines and related systems, including Lift gate hydraulics and transmissions.
  • Utilize hand tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
  • Work on and maintain Refrigeration trailers and Box trucks.
  • Completes required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
