About The Position

The Truck Driver position involves the operation of specialized equipment to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of products to customers or the transfer of materials between terminals and manufacturing sites for production. The Driver is responsible for the secure handling and transportation of various commodities, including Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda Solution), Sodium Hypochlorite Solution (Bleach), Chlorine (in bulk and ton containers), wastewater, and other freight, with strict adherence to safety and load securement protocols.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a 10-panel controlled substance testing and random testing after that.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and maintain good standing, as per TSA’s TWIC criteria.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Must be certified with a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A with X endorsement. (X = Tanker & Hazardous Material)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be capable of standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. from floor to waist height.
  • Must be able to carry 50 lbs. for short distances.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-trip inspection on the tractor and tanker or trailer before moving the vehicle each day.
  • Complete DVIR (post-trip inspection report) at the conclusion of each day’s work.
  • Check the Bills of Lading prior to leaving the facility to assure destination, product strength, and all customer requirements are met.
  • Advise the loader of the proper amount of product to be delivered and, in the case of bulk chemicals, the strength and grade of the product, i.e., 15% or 20% Sodium Hypochlorite, Rayon, or Mercury grade of Caustic Soda, etc.
  • Move vehicles in the yard as directed by the transportation supervisor.
  • Accurately complete the Driver’s Hours of Service Log daily and in accordance with USDOT regulations.
  • Secure cylinders and/or ton containers with proper restraints.
  • Check that all hatches on tankers are secure and all valves are in good working order.
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment in the facility yard and when unloading bulk chemicals.
  • Perform minor roadside repairs to pass roadside inspections and avoid out-of-service violations.
  • Follow customer policies while at their facilities, as long as they meet or exceed Kuehne’s policies.
  • Notify the Transportation Department if delays of greater than 30 minutes are expected.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Double check BOL information before leaving the plant to assure proper customer, location, and product.
  • Keep the tractor clean on the inside and remove trash.
  • Employees must provide the Company with a cell phone number for notification of business changes and will be paid $20/month.
  • Drivers are required to haul freight of any kind as directed by management.
