About The Position

The Truck Driver is hired by, reports to and is evaluated by the Service Manager. The Truck Driver is the point of contact for receiving, transporting, and delivering products, both to other Delta Group locations and to customers. The Truck Driver will safely and efficiently deliver products to their desired location in a timely and professional manner. The Truck Driver will assist with the assemble of farm equipment as necessary to meet productivity goals of the department and best serve the customers of Delta Group. The Truck Driver works in collaboration with the Service Manager, Shop Foreman, Warehouse Manager, sales team members, and customers to further the goals and objectives of Delta Group. The Truck Driver must be self-motivated as most of their work is conducted without immediate oversight of management. Other job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Service Department Responsibilities Operates a semi-truck, according to applicable state and federal transportation laws. Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over required routes, obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations. Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals. Assists with the loading of or loads and unloads goods and materials, using specialized equipment when warranted; unloads empty skids and returns all equipment to designated area. Correctly loads, binds and secures equipment to trailer for transport. Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to the Service Manager or other appropriate staff when delivery route is complete. Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air; reports maintenance malfunctions to the Service Manager. Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns. When not receiving, transporting and delivering products, assembles farm equipment, including but not limited to seeding, harvesting, sprayer and tillage equipment. Utilizes hand and power tools, measuring devices and basic math to complete assembly functions, as needed. Operates forklift and heavy equipment as needed for assembly functions. Team Leadership Develops and maintains open communication among employees, customers, vendors, partners, and suppliers. Encourages and promotes a collaborative working relationship between the parts, sales, and service departments. Works as part of a team, offering and seeking assistance when needed. Customer Service Handles all customer questions, concerns, and complaints expeditiously. Treats all customers with respect, and if an issue occurs involves the Service Manager/Shop Foreman for resolution, as needed. Ability to operate equipment or other power equipment as necessary. Ability to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting in a trailer cab for long periods of time. Ability to load/unload and utilize tools.
