About The Position

The Transportation Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of products over designated routes. This role requires strict adherence to all Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and company safety policies. Drivers provide essential support to warehousing operations by ensuring the safe operation of vehicles and the proper loading and unloading of orders. This role reports to the Manager - Transportation.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as required by DOT FMCSA regulations.
  • Must consent to and pass a thorough background investigation, including:
  • - Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check for the past 3 years.
  • - Verification of safety performance history from all previous DOT-regulated employers for the past 3 years (as required by FMCSA § 391.23).
  • Must successfully complete a road test and/or provide a valid CDL skills test waiver.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility to work effectively with others in a team environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations, report deficiencies to maintenance immediately.
  • Maintain a complete and up-to-date Driver Qualification File (DQF) as required by FMCSA § 391.51.
  • Comply with all FMCSA hours-of-service (HOS) rules and company policies.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as all company-established safety rules and procedures.
  • Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) to and from pre-designated locations based on daily routing information.
  • Properly secure and transport cargo to prevent damage or shift.
  • Maintain regular contact with dispatch via telephone or radio to receive instructions and report status.
  • Ensure all shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading, manifests) is accurate and complete.
  • Provide information and/or advise others as needed.
  • Operate within a defined budget; utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions.
  • Special projects as assigned by management.
