About The Position

The Truck Driver is responsible for driving a truck to transport products/orders to customers. Trucks may range in size from a pickup truck to a single axle delivery truck.

Requirements

  • Must have a clean driving record
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 2-3 years of truck driving experience
  • 1-2 years logistics/transportation industry knowledge and relationships to distribution operations
  • Knowledge of geographical area
  • Commercial license according to government requirements (Chauffeur’s license at minimum)
  • Must pass a medical examination as per Department of Transportation or other requirements
  • Must be available to work more than 8 hours per day as per the requirements of the delivery run or as warranted by business needs
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week for extended time periods
  • Accurate in the delivery and shipment of orders to customers
  • Capable of performing and completing the workload assigned
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Overall reliability, including attendance and punctuality is essential
  • Proper attire, grooming
  • Ability to effectively communicate with leadership, managers, leads, customers, and peers
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other job-related equipment and software
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Willing to participate in Company designated training
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision/guidance
  • Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the company handbook
  • Must be able to practice safe work habits

Responsibilities

  • Drive truck to destination using the most efficient route for delivery of orders to customers
  • Prepare receipts for load picked up or delivered
  • Collect payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges
  • Maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations
  • Maintain contact with Supervisor/Manager to receive delivery instructions
  • Load and unload truck and secure cargo during transit
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, and tire chains
  • Partake in overall housekeeping including cleaning, organizing, dusting, sweeping, etc.
  • Keep the interior of the truck clean and organized
  • Other duties as assigned
