About The Position

This position is for a Class A CDL Driver responsible for running local loads within Eugene, Springfield, Junction City, and Harrisburg. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, with day shift hours from 7am to 5:30pm. The role involves safely operating a tractor-trailer with a Gross Vehicle Weight of 105,500#, adhering to all FMCSA and HOS regulations, and maintaining accurate records. The driver will also be responsible for route planning, conducting daily equipment inspections, performing basic vehicle maintenance, and communicating any defects or accidents. Professional representation of the company and efficient load securing are also key aspects of the role. The position is subject to random D.O.T. drug screens and requires passing a pre-employment drug screen and a DOT driver physical. The driver must be physically capable of entering and exiting the tractor, securing loads, and working safely in various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Class A CDL
  • Clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to pass a DOT driver physical
  • Must be physically able to enter and exit the tractor, throw and tighten straps and open and close the curtains multiple times per shift
  • Able to work and drive safely in all weather conditions and during daylight and dark (early morning / early evening) hours

Nice To Haves

  • 2-5 years of heavy haul, local or long-haul driving experience

Responsibilities

  • Must have a valid Class A CDL
  • Safely operate a tractor trailer with Gross Vehicle Weight of 105,500# and comply with all FMCSA and HOS (Hours of Service) regulations
  • Observe OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations
  • Follow applicable safety rules, regulations, guidelines, polices and site-specific safety plans
  • Obey all traffic laws
  • Maintain an accurate AOBRD (Automatic Onboard Recording Device)
  • Maintain accurate load paperwork and driving records required for compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Follow truck schedule and rest at appropriate times; begin and end workday to accommodate vendor load schedules and HOS regulations
  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption
  • Access weigh stations along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs
  • Communicate & schedule equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Report defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the tractor and/or trailer
  • Responsible for efficiently and safely securing all loads
  • Maintain professional representation of the Company in all interactions with customers and through responsible driving
  • Be prompt and courteous to the customer, co-workers, and everyone you interact with
  • Any other duties as assigned
