Position Summary: Drives truck to transport materials to and from specified destinations. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

Requirements

  • Excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge of road regulations and safety measures
  • Ability to perform vehicle checks
  • Good driving record
  • Education: HS diploma or equivalent required
  • Current Chauffer's License
  • MDOT Physical
  • Experience: 2+ years of related commercial driving experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous shipping/receiving experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operates truck to transport and deliver various products.
  • Follows schedules and uses navigation apps to plan each route based on road and traffic conditions.
  • Ensures accuracy of logs and other required documentation according to state and federal regulations.
  • May load and unload truck.
  • Practices safe driving habits, and follows all safety regulations and standards.
  • Performs vehicle maintenance checks and arranges regular cleaning and maintenance services for the vehicle.
  • May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
  • Routes checked incoming materials, supplies, or equipment to the warehouse or other designated areas.
  • Keeps records on incoming shipments and returns.
  • May operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
