About The Position

The Truck Driver Local Shuttles CDL Class A plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and safe transportation of goods within designated local regions across the United States. This position focuses on operating Class A commercial vehicles to shuttle freight between warehouses, distribution centers, and retail locations, maintaining efficient supply chain operations. The driver is responsible for adhering to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations while prioritizing safety and vehicle maintenance. Effective communication with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers is essential to coordinate schedules and resolve any delivery issues promptly. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall success of the logistics network by providing reliable and professional transportation services on a local scale.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating Class A trucks in a local or regional shuttle capacity.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and hours-of-service rules.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background checks.
  • Physical ability to perform loading/unloading tasks and operate commercial vehicles safely.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations and freight handling procedures.
  • Customer service experience in a logistics or transportation environment.
  • Additional endorsements such as Hazmat, Tanker, or Doubles/Triples.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Class A commercial trucks to transport goods on local shuttle routes within assigned regions.
  • Load and unload freight safely, ensuring cargo is secured according to company and regulatory standards.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain safety and compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and warehouse staff to coordinate pick-up and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and delivery records in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents promptly to management.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during all operations.
