Apply Today!     Where You Will Work   In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.   What You Will Do Perform duties related to the operation of haul trucks to transport materials from loading areas to processing areas at a skilled level. Responsible for understanding changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards Responsible for performing inspections to maximize equipment and tire life and executes assignments from computerized dispatch system and/or two-way radio May assist with training and mentoring of other equipment operators May also operate other heavy equipment which may include, but is not limited to, water trucks, motor graders, and track and rubber tire dozers Responsible for knowing the following procedures: start-up and shut-down, fueling, fire, runaway, emergency, and accident Responsible for having knowledge of payload measurement system, over speed alarm, dispatch codes, shovel and truck horn signals, secondary brake, and park brake Responsible for the safe and skilled performance of the following tasks: spotting at shovel, loading, traveling, dumping on stockpiles, and dumping at crusher Responsible for having operational knowledge of equipment components such as: engine, transmission, planetary final drives, main drive line, nose cone assembly, torque converter, differential, and wet disc braking system May perform and assist with operations support activities such as, housekeeping, barricading, cable moves, and ground support activities May perform minor maintenance activities Perform other duties as required

Requirements

Six (6) months of mobile equipment operating experience
Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

Nice To Haves

High School diploma or GED
Six (6) or more months of experience operating Haul Trucks
