About The Position

CGI is seeking a Heavy Truck Driver to support the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Washington, DC.

Requirements

• A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required, along with any necessary endorsements for specific vehicle types.
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations, as well as vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.
• Adherence to all traffic laws and safety regulations, including weight limits and driving hours regulations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Drive a large (10-wheel) truck to transport materials, merchandise, equipment, or workers between warehouses and facilities in the National Capital Region.
• Load or unload the truck using a forklift, hand, or power trucks, with or without assistance.
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules while considering traffic and weather conditions.
• Perform routine vehicle checks to ensure they are in good working condition and report any mechanical issues immediately.
• Maintain detailed logs of working hours, vehicle service and repair status, delivery instructions, and customer signatures.
• Demonstrate physical stamina to drive long hours and handle the physical demands of loading and unloading heavy cargo.
• Exhibit strong problem-solving skills to manage unexpected situations such as traffic delays or mechanical issues.
