About The Position

As a Truck Driver with ODOC, you’ll be more than just a driver – you’ll be a key player in the operational success of institutions across Oregon. You’ll be responsible for statewide delivery and back haul of products to correctional institutions, other state agencies, food banks, and vendors. In addition to driving, you’ll assist with day-to-day logistics such as: Receipt and inspection of goods Storing and issuing supplies Maintaining accurate inventory records System data entry for tracking incoming and outgoing supplies Supervise adult in custody workers outside secure perimeter Your work ensures that our institutions remain stocked with the resources they need to function efficiently and safely.

Requirements

  • The Truck Driver 2 operates vehicles with a 26,001 gross vehicle weight rating or higher.
  • Oregon Class A commercial driver license.
  • Must be able to obtain a Class A without automatic restrictions within 5 months of employment. (E)
  • Must be able to obtain a passenger endorsement within 5 months of employment.
  • Requires physical ability to perform heavy lifting for short duration on a daily basis, and load and off-load supply shipments and driving in hazardous weather conditions.
  • Subjected to risks associated with an AIC workforce.
  • Security regulations require skills and knowledge of daily custody and supervision of AIC's assigned to the worksite.
  • Must maintain a general knowledge of security procedures and guidelines.
  • Required reporting of all infractions of security regulations to immediate supervisor or security staff.
  • Achieve maximum compliance in control and accountability of keys and tools.
  • Prevent the introduction of contraband, which could be used by AICs as weapons or provide a means of escape from custody as well as jeopardize safety and security with the introduction of controlled substances.
  • Will be required to routinely transport AIC's to and from the worksite to assigned institution.
  • The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
  • Within three days of hire, applicants will be required to complete an I-9 and confirm authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience
  • Experience hauling 53’ trailers
  • Experience changing tires, installing chains and use of jumper cables
  • Forklift experience
  • Maintaining inventory of tools
  • Preparing detailed written records of work accomplished and transactions completed
  • Safely operating a motor vehicle in all types of weather and road conditions
  • Basic Computer skills, including, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel
