About The Position

This position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by, Student Support Services Program, a Title IV (TRIO) program funded through the U.S. Department of Education serving college students who are low-income individuals, first-generation college students, or individuals with disabilities. The Director will work with administrators, faculty, staff, and students to provide administrative, supervisory, and service-oriented leadership to manage the Student Support Services program. This position will supervise and coordinate the implementation of all SSS grant activities in compliance with Department of Education regulations, guidelines and recommendations, as well as with institutional policies, procedures, and relationships. Appointment is contingent on funding of Marians' Student Support Services program by the U.S. Department of Education.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, Social Work or related
  • Minimum of five years of experience in post-secondary education, academic support services or related
  • Experience in planning and evaluation, budget management; knowledge of student development theory, educational advising, college transition, learning styles and impact of culture on
  • Strong motivational skills and commitment to holistic student
  • Demonstrated commitment to and ability to communicate with disadvantaged and ethnically diverse individuals and
  • Experience in advising, teaching, or supervising a population similar to SSS participants, including first generation, low-income and disabled
  • Strong organizational, planning, interpersonal, written and oral communication, time management and computer
  • Ethical comportment, high regards for confidentiality and willingly support the Mission and Core Values of the

Responsibilities

  • Implement the SSS plan of operation, manage all program funds, and assist in planning and conducting research to support project evaluation.
  • Develop, manage and oversee federal grant program funds and institutional match funds.
  • Oversee monthly line-item budget reports, accounting and review procedures to ensure allowable and timely expenditures of all project
  • Collect all data related to the activity and prepare progress reports for appropriate committees and reports required by the funding
  • Monitor accuracy and completeness of reporting and documentation systems.
  • Oversee management of student retention data, including recruitment, eligibility verification, intake and tracking of program services and referrals using software and databases.
  • Responsible for the generation of progress reports, program evaluations, asset management and completion of the Annual Performance
  • Provides timely communication with appropriate campus groups.
  • Prepare reports in final form for presentations to ensure information flow through meetings, conferences and reports.
  • Provide the President, Vice-President of Academic Affairs, and the Dean of Student Success with monthly written summaries of grant
  • Direct marketing of program services to incoming students and maintaining the SSS project website for dissemination of
  • Interpret laws and regulations governing TRIO-SSS programs including but not limited to: the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Office of Management and Budget (0MB)
  • Represent the Marian SSS program and the University at state, regional, and national TRIO association
  • Attend SSS technical assistance workshops and conferences.
  • Select, train, supervise and evaluate all members of the SSS staff project team.
  • Conduct regular group and individual meetings with staff
  • Oversee all programmatic initiatives of the SSS program.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by cooperating in a professional manner with all members of the university
  • Foster an environment where underrepresented students can reach their academic potential by building relationships and seeking support within the
  • Provide support to students for seamless transition to college for first time freshmen, readmitted students, non-traditional students, and transfer
  • Develop and monitor individual action plans to students in achieving a bachelor's degree.
  • Provide support for assigned caseload of SSS student participants in the areas of academic support and guidance, interpersonal and intrapersonal development, career planning and financial
  • Direct, coordinate, plan and implement educational workshops, cultural trips, life skills learning activities and social
  • Develop recognition program, including the SSS Student Recognition Banquet.
  • Present and teach courses/workshops related to student success for enrollment by TRIO-SSS participants.
  • Work closely with other support services on campus to provide the most effective assistance to SSS program
  • Participate in monthly Student Success Meetings, facilitate weekly staff meetings, 1:1 meeting with Dean of Student Success, and professional development offerings.
  • Serve on campus department work groups and institutional governance
  • Lead the process for submission of future grant
  • Maintain a positive work environment by cooperating in a professional manner with the University community.
  • Periodic evening and weekend hours and occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
