About The Position

Middlesex College is seeking a TRIO Project Director to provide strategic, administrative, and financial leadership for a complex federal TRIO grant, ensuring full compliance with all U.S. Department of Education regulations and institutional policies. The position coordinates special programs as they relate to student success, and provides administrative academic support fostering successful transitioning to college, maintenance of good academic standing, and persistence to graduation through planned intervention strategies. The role serves as the primary contact person and representative to the Office of Federal TRIO Programs of the U.S. Department of Education.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • Two (2) years of experience in project management or a similar role
  • Experience managing or administering grant award(s)
  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall strategic and operational responsibility for all administrative and direct service programs and activities designed to recruit, admit, enroll, and facilitate the academic achievement, retention, transfer, and graduation of TRIO program students.
  • Hires, supervises, evaluates, and trains full-time and part-time employees.
  • Develops and administers the program budget and authorizes expenditure of federal TRIO funds, monitors funds, and tracks expenditures in accordance with established College policies and procedures and federal legislation and regulations.
  • Oversees and supervises the recruitment, eligibility, and admission of TRIO applicants in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Conducts assessment using institutional dashboards, survey and other relevant tools/best practices to ensure achievement of program objectives, to inform continuous important and comply with required reports and grant objectives.
  • Provides holistic academic and student development support to program participants in
  • Prepares and submits the Annual Performance Report (APR) in accordance with instructions from the US Department of Education.
  • Collaborates with campus departments and community partners to ensure and efficient functioning of TRIO SSS program and connect TRIO students to services, resources, programs, and opportunities.
  • Works with team members and Institutional Research to collect and utilize data to make informed decisions, engage in process improvement, and measure the impact of their work.
  • Administers a summer bridge program, including providing management around program offering, supervision of peer staff during summer, delivering student development workshops as needed, and providing support and leadership to staff.
  • Serves on College-wide committees and taskforces as requested.
  • Participates in professional development workshops, webinars, trainings or conferences to stay current on best practices on student-center trends, budget management, academic and transfer advising, and policy initiatives related to community college students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
