About The Position

If you are passionate about protecting Tribal children, strengthening families, and building systems rooted in culture, accountability, and care - then this is the job for you! We are seeking a compassionate, culturally grounded, and detail-oriented professional to serve as our Tribal Child and Family Caseworker, providing child-centered casework and advocacy for Tribal children and families involved in our Traditional Tribal Court and State child welfare proceedings. This individual supports placement stability, visitation planning, and the tracking of children’s educational, medical, behavioral health, safety, and cultural needs, while maintaining accurate documentation and referral follow-up. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and committed to strengthening families and supporting the development of the Tribe’s growing Child Welfare program through policy, procedure, and program foundation work.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of experience is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, or a related field is preferred, but can be substituted with two additional years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills; including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team.
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet sometimes competing deadlines while working independently and with others.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software.
  • A valid Alaska Driver’s license and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy is a requirement of this position.
  • complete and pass a pre-employment state and federal background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.
  • Continued employment is also contingent upon successfully passing required annual background checks.
