Responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. Key Responsibilities Occasional training and mentoring may be required to assist other Tribal Accountants, Interns, Clerks, and new employees. Prepare bank reconciliations and journal entries as required/requested. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly and annual financial statements for the Tribal clients. Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures. Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses. Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities. Ensure all financial reporting and regulatory deadlines are met. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close procedures are followed. Respond timely to requests from the client’s auditors and work with them to accomplish a timely year-end audit. Deal with clients regularly, including gathering information and explaining accounting, grant, and audit principles and regulations. Other duties as assigned by Manager/ Partner
