About The Position

GENERAL SUMMARY The Triage Supervisor manages the triage nursing staff and makes day to day decisions for the team. The Triage Supervisor also performs the role of a Triage Specialist, conducting initial assessments to evaluate patient care needs. They coordinate with the other medical professionals including physicians to ensure quality care for the patient.

Requirements

  • For RN or LPN position: RN/LPN license and certification as required by state.
  • For MA position: MA certification required.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
  • Critical thinking, decision making and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
  • Must be able to make good professional decisions quickly despite stressful atmosphere.
  • Ability to coach and build skills within the team.
  • For RN or LPN position: graduate of an accredited nursing program required. BSN preferred.
  • For MA position: High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate's Degree preferred.
  • 3 years related medical and critical/emergency care experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Triage experience preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years' of supervision experience in a clinic setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assigned nursing staff.
  • Makes day-to-day decisions within or for team/department.
  • Has some authority for personnel actions. May assist in interviewing or hiring of new staff.
  • Maintains accurate records and prepares written reports.
  • Responds to incoming calls/ tasks related to complicated prior authorizations and site medical clearance.
  • Collaborates with Practice Manager to determine work priorities, prepare daily work assignments, and monitors compliance for regulatory requirements.
  • Communicates and acts as liaison with patients, family, and health professionals in a manner that respects confidentiality and dignity.
  • Provides direct patient care and is responsible for evaluating patient health over the phone.
  • Interviews patient and/or family to obtain medical histories and to make an accurate assessment.
  • Initiates diagnostic and therapeutic measures as indicated by standing protocols.
  • Responds to phone calls for test results, medication refills, post-operative instructions, and answers general questions.
  • Coordinates the needs of the patient with supporting departments and assists in solving problems related to the welfare of patient and staff.
  • Responsible for education and training for new employees.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.
