About The Position

Colon, Stomach, & Liver Center is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant in Lansdowne, VA to join their team and to help drive patient success in the community. The ideal candidate is a passionate CMA who finds joy in giving care to others, understanding patient vulnerability and their ability to positively impact patient experiences. This is a Monday through Friday position with no nights, on calls, or weekends. Colon, Stomach, & Liver Center is a team of gastroenterologists and allied health professionals dedicated to providing excellent care for a full range of digestive diseases. They are powered by One GI®, a collaboration focused on patient care.

Requirements

• Complete a formal certificate or associate's degree program from an accredited institution, covering anatomy, pharmacology, medical terminology, and procedures.
• Previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant for a minimum of 4 - 5 years.
• BLS Certification required.
• Application of judgment, communication skill and tact, ability to complete necessary tasks in reasonable time frames.
• Empathy, strong communication, organization, detail-orientation, teamwork, and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assess, evaluate, and discern patient acuity; secure patient appointment consistent with telephonic evaluation and clinician-driven guidelines.
• Seek clinician input wherever needed and provides patient education and instruction when necessary.
• Act as a conduit between clinician and patient to facilitate refill requests, relay test results, and answer general clinical questions as guided by clinicians.
• Maintain accurate and complete records, documenting all nursing assessments, interventions, and patient response(s).
• Gather focused assessment data (i.e. vital signs, LOC)
• Administer topical, oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and sublingual medications as prescribed.
• Perform Blood Glucose Checks, Pregnancy Tests, CLO Tests.
• Monitor BP machines, EKGs
