Triage, CMA- Endocrinology East Schedules patients for procedures and advises patients of surgical and financial preoperative requirements. Coordinates and schedules appointments for procedures at the clinic, ambulatory surgery center or hospital. Summary/Objective: To provide excellent medical care to patients by collecting medical information, documenting and scheduling patient for an acute office visit or sending to the Emergency Department. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Answer live phone calls from patients and medically assess the patient’s needs. Collects data accurately and ensures that all information is entered into the patient’s medical record in EHR. Ability to utilize triage note form by queuing patient with questions that pertain to their illness. Knowledge and ability to update patient’s medication lists and help to refill patient’s medications if needed and appropriate. Knowledge of provider’s schedules and preferences with acute patient scheduling. Other Duties/Responsibilities: Process Prescription Refill requests per Physician’s protocol. Performs Ancillary testing: EKG, Spirometry, Cryotherapy, etc. Laboratory testing may include Rapid Tests, Urinalysis, Bilirubin, Auto CBC, and Phlebotomy. Reviews lab and test results. Provide follow up to patient per provider’s instructions. Provide health education to the patient as needed. Performs all duties in compliance with Galen’s clinical policies and OSHA standards. Maintains clean and neat work area. Active participation in process improvement efforts. May be required to assist other team members based on office demands. Recognize and demonstrate cost-effective measures in utilization of supplies and equipment. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Promote the mission, vision, and values of Galen Medical Group. Maintain confidentiality of all patient, medical, financial, and legal information. Report to work on time and as scheduled. Wear identification during work hours. Understands and abides by OSHA, HIPAA & CLIA standards. QualificationsQualifications: Education: High School Graduate or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant program from a nationally accredited institution preferred. Basic Life Support certification Ability to follow clinical pathways and protocols. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle higher stress phone calls. Electronic Medical Record experience.
