About The Position

You'll be responsible for performing didactic education work within DWI, ISF and/or SAFPF Programs. Work involves assisting with the planning, coordination, and implementation of activities; and coordinating with cognitive intervention coordinator and other departments to ensure the maximum utilization for resources available chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school, GED, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Within 180 days of employment, must have a letter of registration as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern (LCDC-I or CI) from the Texas Department of State Health Services or current certification as a Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional Applicant (CCJP-A) as approved by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in the field of psychology, sociology, counseling, social work, criminal justice or education is preferred
  • Related experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provides didactic sessions according to designated curricula within the programs as needed.
  • Presents educational and Life Skill classes to assist clients with basic education on these topics.
  • Guides and assists clients in complying with facility rules and regulations.
  • Supervises client work functions in accordance with program policies such as morning wake up routines according to established schedules.
  • Monitors client behavior and reports incidents, inappropriate or unusual behaviors to appropriate treatment team staff.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of clients failing to comply with policies and procedures.
  • Maintains client and other records regarding services provided to include workload statistics; compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate.
  • Adheres to the core functions within practicum guidelines in the Texas Administrative Code 140 of Texas Health and Human Services Commission LCDC-I licensure and Texas Certification Board for the CCJP-A certification.
  • Adheres to the Ethical Standards of Care for HHSC and TCB.
