About The Position
Anson County WastewaterTreatment Plant OperatorSalary Grade 60: ($34,356 - $36,072) General Description of Duties Performs a variety of operational, laboratory, and maintenance duties designed to provide safe disposal of domestic and commercial waste materials. Work includes monitoring the plant’s operation through observation, mechanical readings and the results of standard chemical and biological tests to make necessary adjustments in the process as conditions or test results dictate. Other duties include assisting with plant and facilities maintenance and substantial record keeping of work activities. Employees are subject to hazards associated with plant operations including working both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases and poor ventilation. Workers may be required to wear respirators when working around chemical tanks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license
- Certified as a Grade I Wastewater Operator within 1 year of hire
- Pre-employment drug testing and criminal background check required
Nice To Haves
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of a water or wastewater treatment plant preferred.
