About The Position

Gunvor USA – Treasury Accounting Analyst Job Summary: The Treasury Accountant will support the US business by ensuring accurate and timely execution of Treasury Accounting activities related to Trading and Corporate operations. This role is responsible for the daily cash application, bank reconciliations and confirmations with external counterparties, operating within a high-volume, time-sensitive commodities trading environment. This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, good technical skills, communication skills, and sound financial and business knowledge. This position reports to the Treasury Accounting Manager and is based in Houston, Texas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience Treasury Accounting operations or Cash management
  • Expertise in energy or commodity trading business is strongly preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office – especially Excel, and related analytical tools
  • Team player and excellent communication skills, including written and spoken (English)
  • Experience working with trading and accounting systems (e.g. Trading: Blackstar, OATI | ERP systems: iScala (current accounting system) and Oracle).
  • Proactive, ability to work independently, deal with all levels of management and external contacts
  • Great judgment/wisdom, resiliency, strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in energy or commodity trading business is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Process and validate daily trading-related payable invoices and apply cash for trading receivables
  • Perform daily bank reconciliation across multiple account, currencies and banking platforms.
  • Apply and reconcile cash transactions in the trading and ERP systems (Trading: Blackstar, OATI | ERP systems: iScala (current accounting system) and Oracle).
  • Investigate, resolve and clearly document reconciling differences in a timely manner
  • Confirm receivables with external counterparties
  • Confirm payables to the external counterparties
  • Prepare and maintain detailed written procedures to ensure adequate coverage and adherence to internal controls.
  • Support process improvements, standardization initiatives, and alignment with Global standards.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Treasury Accounting Manager or Controller
