About The Position

The Weld Supervisor is responsible for communicating and cooperating with internal co-workers, other companies, sub-contractor and customers, be able to manage difficult customers, help create and sustain a positive company image internally and externally, create a positive working environment for everyone, maintain positive work ethics and attendance, maintain good housekeeping, actively lead and encourage participation at JSA Meetings, promptly report all incidents and near misses, actively lead and encourage participation in the HSE and Quality Good Catch Programs, be an innovator in safe work practices/equipment, regularly inform co-workers of the safe way to perform tasks, value quality over personal profitability, obtain, maintain and improve their levels in all NDE methods, regularly confirm Welding and NDE Procedures are being followed, regularly discuss and/or demonstrate ways to improve quality, have the temperament, skills and ability to train others, organize job site to run optimally, plan work two or more weeks in advance, regularly and on-time turn in Weld Supervisor Reports and KPI’s, assist with timely scheduling for 3rd party inspections, assist with correctly assigning welders based on their skill level and certifications, stay up to date on all inspections and testing, maintain weld and NDE material inventory, self performs and organizes 3rd party NDE on a timely basis, regularly encourage co-workers to reduce job-site consumables waste, deduce and implement safe and effective solutions, recognize future problems and implement preventative actions, seek assistance and clarification when needed, troubleshoot and maintain welding equipment, keep procedures reports and records organized and available, keep record drawings and checklists up to date, adhere and enforce company policies, travel as needed, use computer to efficiently manage project paperwork, become certified in all welding processes, be familiar with general construction of new storage tanks, vessels and structures as well as repairs. This role directly reports to the Welding Manager and routinely interacts with Erection Superintendent.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
5+ years of industry experience
5 years of experience
Weld Certification
Competent in NDE Methods
Rigging Training
Active Fit Test
Confined Space Trained
Communicates well with the crew
Skilled in: o Advanced Drawing Reading & Layout Skills o Grinding o Oxy/Fuel Burning o Advanced Fitting o Arc Gouging o Manlift / Scissor / Gondola / Spider Buggy Lift o Structural erection and fit-up o Tank Bottom/Lapped Plate – layout and fit o Tank fittings – layout and fit o Tank shell plate – erect and fit o Weld seam grinding o Basic Knowledge of Construction Manuals o Compression bar o Shell stiffener o Wind girder o Top Angle o Engineering drawings – read and understand o Know how to use welding gauges o Work well with others o Advanced Rigging o Roof installation - Roof type to be filled by Evaluator, as applicable o Specialized tank activities - Air Raise / Hydrotest / Seal / Pneumatic, etc. o Tank Builders scaffold erection and use o Sphere shell plate – erect and fit o Crane hand signal skills o Attend Rigging Class o Ability to understand all type rigging tools o Able to read Operation Manuals / Load chart o Able to calculate the weight of the load o Maintaining the rigging tools in good working safe condition o Perform periodic inspection / Color coding all Rigging gear o Ability to select the correct rigging gear for the lift / Sling Termination o Knows how to do basic load calculations o Knows how to inspect lifting & safety tools / equipment o Knows how to organize work - follow given instructions
Ability to read a standard measuring tape
Access elevated work platforms and scaffolds through the use of ladders, stairways, or other designated access ways.
Climb structures utilizing appropriate fall protection and available handholds and footholds.
Work with precise limits or standards of accuracy.
Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures, and objects.
Understand verbal instructions and written posted notices.
Comply with all written and verbally communicated safety rules and procedures.
Perform general labor on construction sites.
Work in confined spaces where respirators and fresh air equipment are utilized.
Maintain and use personal protective equipment.
Practice good housekeeping to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
Perform a variety of duties, which may often change.

Capable of learning to read and understand basic drawings.
Able to visually inspect personal work activities.

Must be able to set up and run all CBI welding equipment
