About The Position

Clean Harbors is seeking a Traveling Environmental Technician for their Water Remediation Group. This position requires 100% travel across the USA, with a preference for candidates residing around New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Nashville, Charlotte, or Dallas. The role involves activities at customer sites and assisting with onsite projects, including driving oversized work vehicles with racks and towing trailers. A DOT physical is required after hire, but a CDL is not. The group provides liquid and vapor filtration and other remediation site services, with current projects in various states. Work may also occur at company locations in Bridgeport, New Jersey, Kalkaska, MI, or Mt Pleasant, MI for system and equipment builds. The typical work schedule is 6-7 days a week, with 10-12-hour shifts, and a fatigue day off every 14 days for continuous work. A standard rotation of 6 weeks on will be compensated with time off. Travel costs, including flights, are covered by the company, and a per diem is provided for overnight stays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • DOT physical is required for this role
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable MVR
  • Attention to detail
  • Computer savvy
  • Able to perform multiple tasks
  • Available for 24 hour, on-call basis
  • Ability to work with little or no direct supervision and an aptitude to complete assigned work
  • Ability to pass background check will qualify individuals to work on government sites

Nice To Haves

  • CDL B or A an asset but not required
  • Strong mechanical ability preferred
  • Understands the manpower and equipment required to complete assignments
  • Knowledge of chemicals helpful
  • Knowledge of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance helpful
  • Knowledge of RCRA requirements/regulations helpful, training provided
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation DOT regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waste codes, manifesting and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR) helpful, training provided

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to and ensures constant compliance with Health & Safety Compliance and regulations
  • Responsible for the safe and compliant execution of all jobs that they work on, ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Assists the on-scene foreman/supervisor in managing large projects
  • Drives oversized work vehicles to project sites with racks of vacuum equipment and tows trailers
  • Performs emergency response activities including, but not limited to chemical and water spills, etiological and biological contamination, equipment decontamination, etc.
  • Responsible for vehicle inspections, equipment inspections and Health & Safety inspections
  • Ensures proper use of equipment and immediately notifies supervisor of any mechanical failures or problems with equipment
  • Assists in the field sampling activities and calibration of meters
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of Clean Harbors business, including, but not limited to running supplies, emergency response clean ups, etc.
