About The Position

The Travel Sales Advisor position is a full-time, onsite role located at the AAA Green Valley branch, requiring a 5-day work week including Saturdays and occasional evenings for special events. This role is central to managing the member relationship for all travel-related transactions, from initial contact to completion. Key responsibilities include selling a wide range of international and domestic travel products such as vacation packages, cruises, tours, hotels, car rentals, rail, and air travel. The advisor is expected to actively generate new business and encourage repeat business by engaging with members, past customers, and community prospects, while also meeting minimum production goals for travel sales and proprietary products. Additionally, the role involves cross-selling other AAA products and collaborating with specialized team members. A significant part of the job focuses on delivering exceptional member experiences by researching and comparing travel packages, staying informed about world events and industry trends, and acting as a consultant to create personalized vacation experiences. Operational duties include processing travel documents, handling ticketing for various travel components, and utilizing industry-specific systems like GDS/Apollo/Galileo and Google Workspace to ensure accurate bookings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sales drive, detailed knowledge of travel products and worldwide geography, and the ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making, working effectively both independently and as part of a team. Compensation includes a competitive hourly base plus commissions, with opportunities to participate in an annual incentive plan.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of computer applications (e.g., Google Workspace).
  • Effective telephone skills.
  • Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to listen to members’ needs.
  • Self-motivated sales drive and documented sales success.
  • Detailed knowledge of travel products.
  • Knowledge of worldwide geography, the ability to read and interpret maps and brochures.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and recommend solutions.
  • Application of good judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of general sales experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with industry-specific systems (e.g., Galileo, VAX, etc.).
  • GDS experience (Apollo/Galileo/Travelport).
  • Bilingual communication skills.
  • 3+ years of recent experience selling international and domestic travel services.

Responsibilities

  • Own the relationship with the member from beginning to end of each travel related transaction.
  • Sell International & Domestic vacation packages, cruises, tours, hotel, car rental, rail and air travel.
  • Initiate contact with members, past customers, and community prospects to generate new business and encourage repeat business.
  • Maintain minimum production goals in the following areas: Travel sales, sales of Travel Partner and proprietary products (Sojourns, AAA Vacations).
  • Cross-sell products such as credits cards and membership - both independently and by collaborating with specialized team members.
  • Research, evaluate, and compare AAA Travel Partner packages to match member needs and deliver exceptional experiences.
  • Stay current with world events and latest travel industry developments and trends to provide relevant information to members.
  • Investigate and respond to travel-related member questions/complaints, and recommends solutions.
  • Act as a consultant, tailoring products and services to create unique and memorable vacation experiences.
  • Process and interpret travel documents for members purchasing travel products with AAA and inform them of governmental requirements.
  • Handle ticketing for air, hotel, car, and rail, along with primary member servicing.
  • Utilize industry-specific systems (e.g., GDS/Apollo/Galileo) and computer applications (Google Workspace) to manage transactions.
  • Apply good judgment and decision-making to identify customer needs and ensure high accuracy in all bookings.
