Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive post‑operative nursing care to adult patients recovering from major surgeries, including thorough preop and postop assessments, continuous monitoring, vitals interpretation, pain management, wound and drain care, IV therapy, and early mobility facilitation.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, PACU teams, and case managers to develop, implement, and adjust individualized care plans; participate in discharge planning and patient education to optimize safe transitions home or to intermediate care.
  • Monitor for postoperative complications, respond rapidly to clinical changes, administer medications safely, and reinforce best practices in infection control, safety protocols, and evidence-based perioperative care.
  • Document meticulously in the electronic health record, contribute to handoffs, and engage in quality improvement initiatives that enhance outcomes and patient experience.
  • Maintain active licensure, credentials, and professional development while adapting to diverse unit types, with opportunities to mentor junior staff and share expertise.
