About The Position
Travel Registered Nurse – ER Holding / Observation Unit Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Travel RN. This travel RN position supports an Emergency Department Holding / Observation Unit, caring for patients awaiting admission, transfer, or discharge. The role focuses on monitoring, stabilization, and coordination of care for patients who no longer require full ED services but are not yet discharged. Assignment Details: • Contract length: 13 weeks • Shift: Night shift, 3x12s • Schedule: Non-block • Patient population: Adult and geriatric (may vary by facility) • Charting: Epic Compensation Package: W-2 Hourly: $16.50 Housing Stipend: $131/week Meals Stipend: $80/week Weekly Stipend Total: $1,477 Total Weekly Gross: $2,071 Responsibilities: • Provide direct nursing care to ER Holding/Observation patients • Perform ongoing assessments and monitoring • Administer medications, IV therapy, and blood products as ordered • Coordinate care with ED providers and inpatient teams • Document care accurately in Epic • Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate as needed This is a fast-paced environment requiring strong assessment, time management, and communication skills.
Requirements
- Active RN license (state requirements vary)
- Minimum 2 years of ER, ER Holding, Observation, or acute care experience
- Experience with telemetry and patient monitoring
- BLS required
- Epic experience required
- Ability to float within scope as needed
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills
Nice To Haves
- ACLS preferred
