About The Position

CMAP is seeking two TM interns to contribute to agency projects and activities that support regional planning efforts. The internship program runs for about 3 months with flexible start dates ranging from the end of May to mid-June. Interns work up to 29 hours per week during the summer, with possible extensions into the academic year at reduced hours. Intern responsibilities include conducting data analyses using GIS software or scripting languages like Python or R, assisting with modeling tools and dataset quality control, and preparing maps, graphics, and written summaries to communicate findings effectively. These tasks help interns develop technical skills while supporting CMAP's planning objectives. This application will remain open for two weeks and will close at 5:00 p.m. on January 26, 2026.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program and entering junior or senior status by Fall 2026 or be enrolled in a graduate-level program.
  • Internships are hybrid, with in-office work at CMAP’s Old Post Office location in Chicago.
  • Interns may work up to 29 hours per week.
  • Start dates will occur between May and June, and internships will run for 12 weeks.
