About The Position

The Trauma Research Fellow under the guidance and supervision of the Manager of Clinical Research, manages a highly active research program under the mentorship from the health system’s adult and pediatric trauma team throughout the duration of the fellowship program. This role prepares manuscripts for peer reviewed publications and submits and presents abstracts for annual presentations.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other applicable software.
  • Strong knowledge and interest in the research field.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to follow and interpret written and verbal instructions.
  • Effective ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Sound ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical Research experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, designs, and actively directs research projects for both adult and pediatric trauma and general surgery patients.
  • Attends daily trauma rounds, educational conferences, multidisciplinary rounds as indicated for various research projects.
  • Serves as a resource to physicians concerning protocol requirements and determines data requirements as delineated by each trial.
  • Maintains prospective study enrollment initiatives and follow-up.
  • Mentors medical students and residents through research projects, research planning, design, data collection and analysis, and preparation and submission of manuscripts, abstracts, Institutional Review Board (IRBs), and grants.
  • Remains current with developments in clinical research through Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, staff conferences, medical literature, research, and other educational activities.
