About The Position

Overview
Under the direct supervision of the trauma program manager, the trauma registrar abstracts medical information from records and enters clinical data in the state registry data-base.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Medical related experience preferred
• Experience with information technology software including word processing, database management, presentation and compilation of data/patient records preferred.
• Ability to listen, interact, and communicate verbally and in writing required
• Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of ICD-9-CM and CPT4 HCPs coding systems preferred

Nice To Haves

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Health Information Management preferred

Responsibilities

• Entry of clinical data of abstracted charts of trauma patients in the state registry in a timely manner per trauma guidelines
• Abstraction of clinical data from charts of trauma patients when needed
• Collaborates with the trauma program manager and other hospital staff in maintaining updated policies and procedures related to trauma-under the trauma program manager’s direction.
• Actively participates in ongoing preparation for any/all state agencies, as well as the ACS, site visits
• Collaborates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team to promote the goals and objectives of the trauma department
• Maintains active participation in the Trauma Multi-Disciplinary Committee and the performance improvement process.
