About The Position

We are looking for a Trauma Registrar with experience in Trauma Registry interested in a flexible PRN opportunity working in a busy Level II Trauma Center at Novant Heath! Department: Trauma Location: Remote for candidates who reside in AL, FL, GA, IN, LA, MS, NV, NC, OK, SC, VA, WY Schedule: PRN, flexible work hours, at least 8 hours a week Experience: Previous Trauma Registry required and CAISS certification, highly preferred As a Trauma Registrar you will be responsible for chart abstraction and data entry for the Trauma Center. Performs data abstraction and collection from the electronic medical record, data entry into the trauma database, and statistical data reporting of all trauma patients. Works collaboratively with Trauma Service staff to maintain efficient data reporting, support performance improvement initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance with trauma standards. Requirements

Education: High School or GED, Required.
2 Year / Associate Degree, Preferred. HIM, RHIT, Coding.
NH Trauma Centers Only: AIS Coding Course within 12 months of hire, Required.
NH Trauma Centers Only: Trauma Registrar Course within 12 months of hire, Required.
NH Trauma Centers Only: ICD10 Course within 1 year of hire, Required.
Continuing Education - NH Trauma Centers Only: Minimum 12 hours annually, Required.
Experience: Trauma Registry or other health related experience such as: LPN, EMT, CNA, RHIT, or Medical Coder, Preferred.
NH Trauma Centers Only: Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAAISS) Certification, Preferred.
Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR), Preferred.
Registered Health Information Certification (RHIT), Preferred.
Any of the following certifications: Certified Professional Coder Certification (CPC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Preferred.
Medical terminology
Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Basic data entry and computer skills
Ability to work in a team setting
