About The Position

The Trauma Program Manager (TPM) is fundamental to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the trauma program. The TPM is a Registered Nurse (RN) who coordinates the management across the continuum of trauma patient care. This involvement includes planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring the care of in-hospital trauma patients, and serving as a resource for clinical practice. The role also involves managing the operational, personnel, and financial aspects of the trauma program in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director and Vice President, and developing yearly goals and operating budget for Trauma.

Requirements

  • Current RN Ohio licensure
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing
  • Successful completion of Critical Care classes
  • BLS certification
  • Documented continuing education in trauma nursing
  • Experience in hospital quality management programs
  • Demonstrated expertise in trauma care as identified by a minimum of 5 or more years recent nursing experience in one or more of the following areas (2 yrs. must have been in a trauma care system): A. Emergency Department, B. Critical Care, C. Trauma Services.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively with the Trauma Medical Director and other members of the trauma team, coordinates management across the continuum of trauma care, which includes planning and implementation of clinical protocol and practice management guidelines, monitoring the care of in-hospital patients, and serving as a resource for clinical practice.
  • Collaborates with care facilitators and other healthcare professionals to monitor trauma patients’ progress toward goal achievement and periodic reassessment of changes in health status.
  • Works with medical staff and department managers to assure that polices, protocols and pathways promote a smooth transition for the trauma patient during the course of hospitalization.
  • Supervises the collection, coding, scoring, and developing processes for validation of data for the trauma registry.
  • Provides staff development coordinating trauma education for physicians, nurses, and other members of the trauma team.
  • Responsibilities would include but not be limited to: orientation of new trauma team members, coordinating Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum Courses, and facilitating educational updates related to new equipment and procedures in trauma care.
  • Monitors clinical processes, outcomes and systems issues related to the quality of trauma care provided.
  • Under the direction of the Trauma medical Director, develops quality filters and case reviews, identifies trends and sentinel events.
  • The TPM will help outline remedial actions while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Participates in the development of trauma care systems at the community, regional and state levels.
  • Promotes injury prevention and public awareness of trauma care through community programs, and regional/state organizations.
  • Manage the operational, personnel, and financial aspects of the trauma program in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director and Vice President.
  • Develops yearly goals and operating budget for Trauma to include recommendations of capital requests, and program growth.
