Job Summary and Qualifications The Trauma Outreach Coordinator, in collaboration with the Director of Trauma Services, creates a common vision to support the Trauma Department and HCA Florida Memorial Hospital at large by working with the team to improve and maintain quality consistent with the trauma standard of care. Other responsibilities include fostering good public relations, patient & employee satisfaction, and maintaining open communications with ancillary departments, physicians, and the public. This educator will have a role in developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating trauma educational programs/projects for staff, patients, and the community (both professional and public) across the continuum of trauma care. The educator will provide support to the Trauma Program Director and Trauma Injury Prevention/Outreach and Education for community outreach activities. This individual may also participate in monitoring compliance with guidelines and regulations, performance improvement activities, and data quality efforts for the trauma service line as directed by the Trauma Program Director

Requirements

  • FL RN License required
  • Graduate from accredited school of professional nursing (Associates Required, Bachelors preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience in Trauma Nursing in ICU, Surgical Services, and/or Emergency Department
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support required
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course Instructor required
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support required
  • TNCC Instructor Required

Nice To Haves

  • One year of formalized teaching experience preferred
  • Stop the Bleed Instructor preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assessing and developing trauma competencies, learning needs, and education plans for nurses, physicians, and staff across all areas involved in trauma care
  • Designing and delivering evidence-based education, orientation, and preceptorship programs with measurable outcomes and clear evaluation methods
  • Rounding and evaluating clinical practice to monitor patient progress, documentation quality, adherence to trauma standards, and opportunities to improve care
  • Collaborating and consulting with leaders, educators, and interdisciplinary teams to implement best practices, reduce risk, and strengthen trauma care systems
  • Coordinating and tracking trauma education activities, competency validation, outreach programs, PI-related training, and loop-closure documentation
  • Engaging and representing the Trauma Program through community outreach, professional presentations, committee participation, and partnerships that support trauma education
