About The Position

This position is accountable for serving as a consultant in the care of peri-operative patients. The incumbent provides patient, family, and staff education; leadership in identifying and reviewing nursing clinical practice and procedures, equipment and processes that will enhance clinical operations and patient care outcomes. Serves as a patient and family advocate. This position is responsible for the development, coordination, delivery, evaluation and monitoring of trauma education and initiatives that is designed to enhance the clinical skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals. This role involves: 1.) collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the Trauma PIPS program, ACS standards of care and evidence-based practices are integrated into patient care and professional development to provide optional care for the injured patient; 2.) expertise in adult learning theory and multi-generational learning principles to promote quality educational programs; and 3.) being an expert resource and liaison. The Trauma Program Coordinator will closely work with the Trauma Program Quality Coordinator in supporting and assisting in identifying and prioritizing performance improvement and patient safety opportunities within the trauma program.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree In Nursing (required)
  • RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing (required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • TNCC - Trauma Nurse Core Course - ENA - Emergency Nurses Association within 12 months of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 12 months of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • Minimum two (2) years Current pediatric clinical experience (required)
  • Minimum three (3) years Critical care, OR and/or trauma experience (required)
  • Computer Skills Demonstrated progressive computer and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level clinical problem-solving and critical thinking skills are a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree Public Health, Health Administration, Nursing or related (preferred)
  • CNOR - Certified Perioperative Nurse - CCI - Competency & Credentialing Institute Competency & Credentialing Institute (preferred)
