About The Position

The Division of Acute Care Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of South Florida, and Tampa General Hospital (TGH) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full time academic, intensivist at the rank of assistant, or associate professor. This role is Clinical coverage of ICU, EGS and Trauma coverage.

Requirements

  • Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
  • For Associate or Full Professor- Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
  • Board Certified/Eligible in general surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive care clinical services in the surgical trauma ICU providing day and nighttime inhouse coverage.
  • Admits complex trauma and emergency general surgery type cases. In addition, it admits transplant, general surgery, surgical oncology, OB/GYN oncology, ENT.
  • Collect appropriate history, performs physical exam, orders diagnostic tests and formulates diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Provides health counseling.
  • Participated in research studies and QI activities.
  • Active participants in the Department's residency training and educational programs and well versed in educational experience of medical students, residents, and clinical fellows.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
  • Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
  • May represent the university, college/school, or department.
