About The Position

This is a full-time Transporter position, working 72 hours per pay period on a day shift at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is a 444-bed hospital recognized for pairing clinical expertise with advanced medical technology to deliver exceptional care, including specialized services in bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures, and advanced orthopedic care. As a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, it provides leading-edge treatment for stroke recovery. Fort Sanders Regional is part of Covenant Health, East Tennessee’s largest nonprofit health system. The role involves the transportation of hospital patients and supplementary items, performing defined safety protocols, and providing support assistance/activities as needed.

Requirements

CPR required
Ability to perform the essential tasks of the job, demonstrating possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Transports patients to and from destinations. Accommodates varying degrees of complexity such as the use of oxygen, proper isolation precautions, CPR, lifting and transfer techniques, etc., along with the effective use of equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds.
Monitors and utilizes the patient flow board for assignments.
Performs defined safety protocols (i.e. double identification, various isolation procedures, equipment maintenance and cleaning, etc.).
Maintains open lines of communication between patients, family, physicians, peers, and leadership.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
