Under close to general supervision, the Transporter is responsible for transporting passengers and/or mail and materials within an assigned geographical area, ensuring the safety of the vehicle being operated. This role may also involve performing or assisting with routine vehicle maintenance, general maintenance of office areas and grounds, and assigning vehicles to staff. Essential functions include operating a motor vehicle for transport, reporting all accidents, incidents, and breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, completing appropriate documentation, and maintaining a customer-focused orientation. The position requires adherence to agency confidentiality and safety policies, knowledge of documentation processes, relevant laws, and program area resources. It also involves observing and monitoring participants' behavior, building community relationships, preparing reports, serving as a liaison, and effective oral and written communication. The Transporter must be able to operate a state vehicle safely, complete daily housekeeping chores, identify and report facility repairs and equipment problems, and recognize disruptive behavior.
