This Transportation Worker II position, located in Division 12's Gaston County Maintenance Office, is crucial for improving and maintaining a safe highway system. The role involves installing traffic and erosion control devices, operating various hand and power tools, and performing diverse maintenance and upgrade tasks on the highway system. These tasks include work on pavement, shoulders, ditches/drainage facilities, vegetation control, litter/debris removal, and snow and ice control/removal, as well as responding to other emergency situations. As the employee gains experience and ability, they will operate a wide range of equipment, from single axle dump trucks and loaders to graders, excavators, and more complex machinery, with the complexity increasing with progression from TW I to TW V. The work specifically focuses on the preventive maintenance, repair, and construction of State-maintained roads within Gaston County.
