About The Position

The Transportation Specialist plays a key role in supporting Ride Connection’s accessible transportation programs. Working closely with the Program Manager, this position helps oversee daily operations, support drivers and volunteers, coordinates schedules, and ensure vehicles and services run smoothly. You’ll be part problem-solver, part mentor, part logistics coordinator—and always an advocate for our riders and team. This is a great role for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and values collaboration, community impact, and equity. This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting pay of $47,528 - $71,281 annually. Anticipated hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30 pm. Some weekends required as needed. Requirements

  • Two years of college coursework or equivalent education/experience
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Two to five years experience supervising and coaching
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
  • Comfort using scheduling software and Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to coordinate and support both paid staff and volunteers
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional phone communication
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driving record meeting Ride Connection standards
  • Ability to pass a national criminal background check (fingerprinting required)
  • Willingness to participate in a federal drug and alcohol testing program

  • Nonprofit or community-based work experience
  • Knowledge of the local geographic area
  • Experience in transportation services (demand-response, fixed route, or fleet maintenance)

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of safe, accessible, and equitable transportation services
  • Assist with supervising daily transportation operations, including demand-response and shuttle services
  • Help onboard, train, coach, and evaluate both paid and volunteer drivers
  • Coordinate driver availability and scheduling with Ride Connection’s Service Center
  • Assist with fleet oversight, including scheduling maintenance, and repairs
  • Serve as additional driver as required
  • Participate in after-hours and weekend duties as needed
  • Maintain program records and submit required reports
  • Collaborate with community partners and represent Ride Connection professionally
  • Support inclusive, volunteer-friendly practices and excellent customer service
  • Help ensure compliance with Ride Connection policies, procedures, and safety standards
