Transportation Specialist- Distribution Center Location: Shepherdsville, KY, USA - 170 Clermont Road Schedule: Monday to Friday, 1pm-9:30pm . Schedule subject to change based on the needs of the business. OT is mandatory if required. This is a FT, permanent position. Benefit eligible. Our Shepherdsville, KY location is looking for a dynamic and motivated Transportation Specialist to join our team. Requirements

  • Typically requires 3+ years of related experience
  • 3 years of related experience. McKesson employees require 6 months of service
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including editing and proofreading
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders (vendors, drivers, other internal team members)
  • Ability to work with limited autonomy and under moderate direction
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Teams) at a basic level
  • A valid driver's license along with driving experience with parcel vans and/or box trucks (preferred)
  • General office work environment
  • Working indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather
  • Ability to lift pallets and meet the physical demands of the shipping dock
  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles per shift
  • Lift 20–40 lbs repetitively; team lift for heavier items
  • Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and walking
  • May work in refrigerated/cold environments
  • Visual acuity for reading fine print and color differentiation

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to SAP would be ideal
  • A valid driver's license along with driving experience with parcel vans and/or box trucks (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Ability to deal with day-to-day operations for the inbound/outbound transportation and the ability to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Organize transportation documents, log pertinent data, assign control numbers, POD management and route documents to appropriate areas
  • Prepare international loads for shipment. Preparation includes coordination with carrier, pre-staging pallets, affixing international labels, preparing commercial invoices, etc.
  • Troubleshoot all manifesting and transportation related issues with carrier and corporate transportation representative.
  • Monitor customer shipments and the quality of carrier performance.
  • Manage refrigerated trailer pool that is essential to storing warehouse supplies. Monitor trailer temperatures daily and report any issues to the transportation manager.
  • Monitor dock operations and ensure all trailer safety equipment is available and operational.
  • Other tasks as assigned by leader
