About The Position

We have an immediate opening for a Transportation Safety Intern to join our Transportation practice in the United States. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting public transit and transportation safety projects while developing technical, analytical, and consulting skills in a collaborative environment. You will work alongside experienced consultants supporting projects aligned with Federal and State programs, and broader transportation safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Transportation, or a related field (3rd or 4th year preferred).
  • Strong interest in transportation systems, transit, or infrastructure safety.
  • Basic understanding of safety principles or coursework related to safety, risk, or engineering is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive and eager-to-learn mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Support project teams in the planning, coordination, and execution of transportation safety consulting engagements.
  • Assist in the review of technical documents, drawings, specifications, and operating procedures to evaluate compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Help prepare and develop reports, presentations, and client deliverables using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Participate in safety analyses, including preliminary hazard analysis (PHA) and basic risk assessments under guidance from senior team members.
  • Support site visits to transit systems or active work sites; document observations and assist in preparing field reports.
  • Assist in reviewing safety and security programs, training materials, and operating procedures for alignment with FTA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to incident and accident report reviews and support the development of corrective action recommendations.
  • Participate in internal team meetings and, when appropriate, client discussions to support project tracking and follow-ups.
