About The Position

As a Transportation Representative on the Supply Chain team at Smithfield Foods, you will play a key role in ensuring timely, cost-effective product delivery. This involves coordinating between transportation providers, sales brokers, and customer buyers. The position supports logistics operations by resolving delivery issues, facilitating communication, and maintaining high service standards to keep customers and shelves stocked efficiently. Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across teams.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and order processing software.
  • Solid decision-making skills and the ability to compare options and calculate transactional trade-offs.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and resolve issues quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and foster a respectful, team-oriented work culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact between transportation carriers and field sales teams, relaying updates and resolving service issues promptly.
  • Use FourKites tracking software to monitor shipments and provide real-time status updates.
  • Notify Customer Service of existing or potential delivery issues, and work collaboratively to minimize disruptions.
  • Keep sales representatives and brokers informed about any transportation-related challenges or delays.
  • Enter and track delivery data, make decisions on missed appointments, and determine the next best steps for customer satisfaction.
  • Track and report on Spotlight Accounts with prior service issues, ensuring enhanced handling and follow-up.
  • Assist with securing and re-scheduling delivery appointments to align with customer expectations and delivery windows.
