About The Position

Merrick & Company is seeking a Transportation Planning Manager in our Tampa Office. We are looking for an individual that wants to advance their career by joining our talented and highly collaborative Engineering Team. With a minimum of ten (10+) years of related engineering and project management experience, the prospective candidate will lead multiple projects for highway and roadway improvement projects. A career-minded professional with self-confidence and a teachable spirit would find themselves advancing quickly in our family-oriented organization. As a Transportation Planning Manager, he/she will play a key role in expanding the capabilities of our rapidly growing transportation group. The ideal candidate should have strong relationships with individuals at the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and should have previous project management experience on FDOT projects. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience. The planning manager is ultimately responsible for project success and the client’s satisfaction, with an emphasis on cultivating client relationships and winning future work. Requirements

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in project management and/or engineering, preferably within Transportation/Civil Engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering – all degrees considered; Mechanical, Civil, and Chemical degrees will be most applicable to this position.
  • Florida Professional Engineering License is required.
  • Thorough understanding of earned value management, project scheduling, and risk management.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee project planning, earned value management, technical leadership, quality control, and client satisfaction.
  • Manage project teams with multi-discipline engineering discipline leads.
  • Master and implementing industry best practices from PMI, CII and AACE.
  • Inform engineering discipline leads of resource requirements.
  • Travel to client sites several times per month for the purposes of design meetings and developing new work.
  • Contribute to business development and meeting with clients to develop scopes of work.
  • Contribute to corporate and business unit strategic planning efforts.
  • Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work. This work includes client development, proposal assistance, project planning, estimating, scheduling, and establishing project controls.
