About The Position

The Montana Department of Transportation is recruiting for a Transportation Planner . These positions are responsible for performing professional-level tasks in support of MDT's Asset Strategy functions. Research compliance with federal and state laws for plans, programs, and projects; research, analysis, and interpretation of federal and state laws, guidelines, and agency policies and procedures; analyze transportation-related data; program and project development, grant management, tracking, monitoring, and documenting; performing analysis using a variety of data sources; conducting planning studies; and inter-agency and external coordination. These positions report to the System Impact Section Supervisor and do not supervise others. This position is part of a career ladder. Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Planning, Business or a related field.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Alternative combinations of related experience and education may be considered. Such as 3 years of related experience.
  • Establish productive, collaborative working relationships with co-workers, management, and customers.
  • Proactively engage in training and discussions to expand awareness of how the position supports the department’s mission.
  • Understand and adhere to policies, procedures, rules, and laws that govern daily work activities.
  • A resume detailing your qualifications and work history.
  • A cover letter of no more than two pages addressing your qualifications for the position.
