About The Position

GFT is looking for a Transportation Planner to join our team in Seattle, WA! What you will be challenged to do: The Transportation Planner provides transportation planning and data analysis support for a wide variety of projects, including multimodal (highway, transit, bicycle/pedestrian, and freight) planning tasks. Independently apply technical and analytical skills to interpret complex datasets, planning guidelines, and policies. Collaborates cross-functionally across teams and contributes to project scoping, analysis and recommendations with general oversight and guidance from a senior-level staff member. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

  • BA in Planning or related field
  • 3 + years of applicable experience
  • Professional experience in transit or transportation planning

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s degree in planning (Land Use, Urban, Regional, Transportation, Environmental), Public Administration, Environmental Studies, Geography, or related field preferred
  • In process or willingness to pursue American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares transportation planning studies or broader transportation planning activities for multimodal systems.
  • Collects, analyzes and synthesizes quantitative and qualitative data and information to be used in transportation planning efforts.
  • Drafts technical reports, memos and presentation materials with actionable insights for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Interfaces with clients, facilitates meetings, and manages stakeholder communication.
  • Conducts data analysis and visualization to inform planning recommendations, which may include the use of Power BI, Excel, and other tools.
  • May lead project management tasks, including meeting facilitation, agenda-setting, follow-up, and documentation using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  • Applies an equity and social justice lens to transportation planning projects, ensuring inclusivity in analysis and recommendations.
  • Works as part of a project team within the transportation planning discipline.
