About The Position

King County Metro is seeking a Transportation Planner III - Comfort Station Liaison to join our team in supporting the health, dignity, and well-being of our frontline transit employees. This role is a vital part of the Comfort Station Program, which ensures that operators across Bus, Rail, and Streetcar have access to safe, clean, and accessible rest and break facilities. As we prepare for the global spotlight of the FIFA World Cup, this position will play a key role in helping the program scale to meet the increased demands of this major international event. You'll work as part of a collaborative team, contributing to both the day-to-day coordination of the Comfort Station Program and the planning efforts required to meet the expanded needs brought on by the FIFA World Cup. While others in the Program may lead vendor engagement, your work will be essential in ensuring the program is operationally ready and responsive during and after this high-profile event. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact-supporting the people who keep our region moving, especially during one of the most high-profile events our transit system has ever supported.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, inclusive, and informative messages for a wide audience.
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • A commitment to equity and social justice, and a demonstrated ability to apply these principles in daily work.
  • A valid Washington State Driver's License or the ability to obtain one by the date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of equitable, responsive customer service to transit operators by addressing comfort station needs and concerns.

  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
