About The Position

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is hiring seasonal Transportation Operations Technicians to support highway maintenance and operations in Clarendon. This hands-on role involves a variety of tasks that keep Vermont’s roads safe and reliable. This is a temporary position, typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week. Multiple positions in the same work location may be filled from this job posting.

Requirements

One (1) year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor INCLUDING EITHER one season of operating a snowplow with wings OR six (6) months of operating medium or heavy equipment, such as graders, excavators, and backhoes.
Upon successful completion of original probation as a Transportation Operations Technician I AND possession of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement.
A Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
Must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation.
Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement is required within the first six months of employment.
Must complete all VTTC required coursework within one (1) year or be enrolled.
Non-original probationary employees must obtain a required CDL license prior to the completion of six (6) months of service in the position.
Provide detailed employment information for the past 10 years for previous employers for which you were an operator of a commercial motor vehicle, including names, addresses, dates of employment, and reason for leaving.
Participation in a random drug and alcohol-testing program is required.
Considerable overtime work is required, particularly during the winter months, and is considered a condition of employment.
