About The Position

The Agency of Transportation is seeking temporary Transportation Operations Technicians in Brandon. This position will be responsible for various tasks related to highway maintenance, such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more. It is anticipated that these positions will work 40 hours per week for approximately six months. This is a temporary position, and while 40 hours per week is anticipated, temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time, with no guarantee of 40 hours of work per week.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • An incumbent must live within reasonable proximity of assigned workstation
  • Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for the successful completion of original probation
  • An incumbent must complete all VTTC required coursework within six (6) months or be enrolled
  • Participation in a random drug and alcohol-testing program is required prior to operation of vehicles or operating equipment
  • Considerable overtime work is required, particularly during the winter months, and is considered a condition of employment
