About The Position

The positions reports to the Director of Transportation and responsible for managing and executing the end to end logistics process for Final Mile, TL, LTL, and parcel shipping deliveries via multiple logistics partners. Ensure flawless execution by working closely with our Delivery Center Leadership, Guest Service Team, Retail Operations, and 3PL partners. Lead contact for most satellite locations and oversees the execution of the delivery orders to our external customers on the dates scheduled. Route cause operational opportunities and champion process improvement initiatives within the organization.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Transportation Manager, 3rd Party Manager or similar role
  • Familiar with supply chain processes (e.g.)
  • Inventory planning, transportation, warehouse management, inbound, outbound)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Transportation Manager must be able to conduct data analysis to identify key areas to improve our supply chain operations, increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Collect and report consistent Data for all modes of Transportation Drive consistency with reporting through different methods of engagement Develop an understanding of customers' needs and take actions to ensure that such needs are met.
  • Review Transportation performance with customers against targets, benchmarks, industry trends and service agreements Educated on the Final Mile delivery program to optimize our cost while improving the guest experience
  • Experience with traffic modeling to predict future transportation needs
  • Research, create cost estimates, negotiate transportation options and contracts
  • Evaluate carrier operations and inbound/outbound KPI’s Facilitate monthly & quarterly market reviews with carrier groups
  • Responsible for annual budgeting process & monthly P&L statements
  • Weekly audit process of 3PL settlements & submission to accounting for processing
  • Develop a quarterly scorecard that measures market performance to keep 3PL’s aligned with expectations Planning routes and load scheduling for multi-drop deliveries
  • Confronting climate change issues by implementing transportation strategies
  • Conduct monthly service reviews to drill down into business opportunities and operational constraints
  • Support all Routing, Billing, Claims, etc.// within most satellite markets Control of delivery order mgmt. and work flow by location
  • Responsible for enhancing store & delivery team relations
  • Work with peer groups to remove barriers and improve key performance indicators
  • Knowledge of industry trends and able to adapt to business needs
  • Help foster relationships with business partners
  • Track KPIs and report on supply chain’s performance
  • Participate in inter-departmental task forces charged with improving supply chain performance and reduce transit times of all loads scheduled
  • Familiar with Delivery Service Agreements and contract negotiations
  • Assist in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control
  • Develop supply chain reports and metrics
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, prioritizes and execute against multiple priorities.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and functional disciplines
  • Leads the organization’s Performance Improvement plan and Operational Efficiency initiatives; ensuring a data-driven and results oriented approach that supports successful execution of company strategic objectives.
  • Educate department Supervisors and team members in identifying key performance improvement indicators, targeting opportunities for improvement, adopting best practice processes and successfully executing improvement initiatives.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and hiring process, to ensure staffing levels are maintained with quality talent.
  • Provide leadership for large employee populations in non-exempt positions and direct reports in exempt positions that both maximize and optimize resources in support of the company’s goals and objectives in serving customers.
  • Design and implement staffing strategies to ensure work force is flexible and can respond to variations in work flow.
  • Effectively lead and develop the Process Managers and employees utilizing performance management tools to enhance performance and achieve individual as well as company goals.
  • Ensure that the performance goals are set and achieved, through the proper execution of performance metrics as it relates to Productivity, Safety, Quality and Customer Service.
  • Ensure productivity, safety, and quality goals are achieved through a process of continuous process improvement.
  • Work closely with employees to communicate and educate on work instructions, policies, procedures and process improvement initiative.
  • Ensure standardization and sharing of best-demonstrated practices with Operations, Distribution Center and as appropriate across the Distribution Centers.
  • Ensure the company’s physical assets (building, equipment, inventory, etc.//) are properly controlled, maintained, protected and utilized.
  • Utilize process improvements to continually improve operational efficiencies.
  • Develop LEAN training classes and implement policies and procedures to improve distribution center operations.
  • Ensure superior customer service to customers and internal partners by delivering on shipping commitments to customers.
  • Drive highest level of customer quality.
