About The Position

Southshore Distribution, LLC is part of a family of privately held interconnected businesses, with an especially strong connection to United Container Co., a multi-state packaging supplies business. Southshore Distribution, LLC is an asset-based transportation business with multi state operating authority and an active brokerage license, operating 9 leased power units, with a mix of sleepers, day cabs and 1 owned spotter and around 120 53’ trailers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manage all day-to-day fleet program needs, including ongoing program administration for both drivers and assets. Develop and refine a transportation strategy that aligns to the company’s strategic growth plan delivering on cost, quality, and service objective, while maintaining our annual budget and achievement of targets. Network with shippers and brokers to identify new freight opportunities. Analyze and quote new freight opportunities. Responsible for growth initiatives and maintaining relationships with Customers and Vendors. Responsible for the hiring, training, and development of employees. Onboard and train qualified drivers to ensure they meet company and safety standards. Foster a culture of professional excellence through driver training and coaching. Actively supports and participates in all safety initiatives. Implements safety schedules that ensure compliance with Corporate, DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse, and ISO 9001:2015 standards. Directly supervise the Transportation Supervisor and Transportation Dispatcher and indirectly our 12 full-time drivers. Monitor driver behavior using telematics and providing regular coaching to improve safety and fuel efficiency. Manage the purchase and leasing of all power units and trailers, working with legal and accounting. Manage bulk diesel fueling operations and vendor relationships to control fuel expenses. Lead incident investigations and manage reporting for any accidents or emergencies in the field. Other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the transportation and logistics industry.
  • Mastery of ELD systems, telematics, and DOT regulatory frameworks.
  • Understands how day to day decisions impact financial outcomes.
  • Proven ability in asset valuation (buy/sell/lease), insurance policy management, and logistics profit optimization.
  • Working knowledge of transportation / mechanical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to interact within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
