The PACE model is centered on the belief that it is better for the well-being of seniors with chronic care needs and their families to be served in their community whenever possible. Seniors, their family members, and caregivers face many issues, including transportation to appointments, management of medications, coordination of medical care from different specialists, lack of social interaction, and ability to stay alone at home. On Lok PACE participants receive in home care services and transportation to a On Lok PACE center for primary medical care, social and recreational activities, and other senior care services. POSITION SUMMARY: The Transportation Manager is responsible for managing the regional transportation team, assuring and coordinating the safe and efficient transport of all PACE participants. This highly collaborative role requires strong people management skills to manage the transportation and logistics function across the organization, as well as critical strengths in planning for and providing transportation services that are safe and compliant with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 2 years experience working with the geriatric population required.
  • 2 years experience in management/supervision/financial management in transportation required.
  • Licensed California Driver with good driving record required.
  • Ability to operate all vehicles of On Lok, has some mechanical ability and understands a maintenance program for vehicles.
  • Skilled facilitator and problem solver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degreeor commensurate experience in transportation/fleet management for multi-site operation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the transportation staff, ensuring coordination of services across all centers.
  • Ensure delivery of quality services by overseeing the department's compliance with regulatory requirements, adherence to policies and procedures, and leading continuous process improvement and risk management efforts.
  • Ensure that participant safety is maintained and that staff are effectively performing and participating on the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Serve as an effective link with On Lok's administration and OLSHS's management team through effective communication, productive collaboration, demonstrated leadership and facilitation of change opportunities.
  • Advance the goals and objectives of the organization by developing supporting department-specific performance goals, implementing quality improvement plans in the department, participating in establishing and monitoring financial targets, and working collaboratively with other managers on issues related to quality programming, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Assist the Director of Transportation with maintaining the reputation of the transportation team both inside On Lok and with the community; remain actively involved in the promotion of On Lok in the community.
  • Ensure the On Lok fleet of vehicles is maintained safely and in good repair; oversee Fleet Maintenance for the region with the Director of Transportation and supported by the Fleet and Safety team.
  • Develops, assigns and ensures the coordination and implementation of daily schedules for all drivers including, but not limited to, vehicle assignments, meal and supply deliveries, and participant pick-ups and routes.
  • Provides oversight and ensures that the transportation department is in compliance with the department's operations manual, van maintenance schedules, On Lok policies and procedures, and State and PACE regulations.
  • Ensures delivery of quality services to internal and external customers through adherence to policies and procedures which includes maintaining participant safety standards.
  • Serves as liaison between IDT and the transportation staff for communicating information about participant statuses.
  • Functions as a primary driver when needed to ensure adequate and availability of transportation services, including vacation/leave coverage, periods of staffing shortages and/or low census.
  • Required to manage increase in work demands with census growth and program operational changes.
  • Ensures that all staff are appropriately trained per required PACE and ADHC guidelines.
  • Identifies and coordinates training needs of new and existing staff.
  • In partnership with the Transportation Manager and the regional Program Managers, the Transportation Supervisor performs supervisory duties including employee relations and performance management.
  • Works with the regional Program Managers on staffing and budgetary issues.
  • All other reasonably related duties as assigned.
